I have always been a "doodler" and it has gotten me in trouble throughout my whole life. "Kaitlin pay attention!" "You are wasting good paper." "You won't remember what your teacher says if you draw during your lectures." But on the contrary I always retained information the best while doodling. Having doodles alongside my notes helped me study, and during tests it was easier for my to remember the drawings I created rather than the copied down words my teachers recited. I feel at ease when my hands are free to create, it helps my mind focus on what is important. When I can't or are forbidden to draw my mind craves a different creative outlet and I daydream, forgetting that the world around me even exists.
